Happy birthday to Eugene Orowitz, or as we know him, Michael Landon! It's hard to believe what classic television would have been like if the boy from New York had never moved to Los Angeles to find work in show business.
Though Landon played many roles in his lifetime, one of his most famous roles was Charles "Pa" Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie.
I think of all the online friends I've made because of Little House. I also think of the two cast reunions I was blessed to attend--2014 and 2024, the interviews with Dean Butler and Kent McCray I conducted, the Zoom book club discussions with Wendi Lou Lee I was part of, and the Zoom discussions with Melissa Gilbert as part of Modern Prairie I've partaken in. All of these special moments would never have come to be without Michael Landon's vision for the show.
Others have played Charles Ingalls, but I will always see Michael Landon as Pa.
If you check out Melissa Gilbert's Instagram page today, she shares her thoughts and her screen test with Laura and Pa.
