And the survey says...

Thanks to all who participated in last month's survey, providing answers for which Little House book is their favorite. The winner by far was These Happy Golden Years. Given the fact that I'm a hopeless romantic, I was happy to see the book about Laura and Almanzo's courtship is such a hit--though I didn't vote for this one.

Farmer Boy, On the Banks of Plum Creek, and The Long Winter (my favorite) all tied for second.

Not surprisingly, the one book that did not receive any votes was The First Four Years. Published after Laura's and Rose's deaths, this book chronicles the first four years of Laura and Almanzo's marriage. This was a dark time in their lives as they battled illness, lost their home to a fire, and lost their infant son who died without even being given a name. And as such, the writing in this book is much darker and more somber than in the other books. The sense of optimism is noticeably absent for the majority of the story.

Thanks again for voting. Look for our new survey and a new featured book of the month coming soon!
